Perfect Kobe Story: Lakers Get Blown Out In Portland - So He Took Away His Teammate's Sneakers Declaring The Lakers Too Soft To Wear Them
Perfect story by Lou Will here. Not only the perfect Kobe story, but honestly the perfect time. We've all spent the last 36 hours reflecting on the fragility of life and who Kobe was a dad and player. At least for me and speaking for myself only, I was ready to laugh. That's why this story is perfect.
Pat did a really good job blogging about some other stories that came out yesterday about Kobe:
But this is peak Kobe, man. The dude was the one of the, if not the, fiercest competitor in the NBA for guys my age (32). We didn't get to see young Jordan, but we all saw Kobe from start to finish of his career and the one constant was a desire for not only himself to be great but he demanded that from others - similar to MJ.
I went and looked at the two seasons Lou Will played for the Lakers. During the 2015-16 season, the Lakers lost 108-96 and 121-103 in Portland. During the 2016-17 season they lost 118-109 and 105-98. My guess is it happened after that 121-103 game. But the point is imagine Kobe walking into the locker room and demanding all of the Kobe signature shoes. Imagine being a teammate and you're sitting there getting ready to get on the plane and Kobe is just screaming that you're too soft to wear his signature shoes.
Perfect. Kobe.
It's still insane that he and 8 others are just gone.
